UN officials describing themselves as ‘thieves’ claim money from illegal trade goes to ‘some top guys in the UN’
Kendra King's insight:
Geographically, there is a major push factor causing the people of Burmese to leave. So, I would like to think it is just common decency for a country to treat refugees with some sort of care. I realize, refugees can disrupt sense of order in which they travel to and refugees can great problems. However, this doesn't justify the country who receive the refugees abusing them. I don’t get how Malaysia gets to be part of the UN and just not follow any of the refugee rules. I realize international relations are weak, but given the human trafficking issues and violations of other human rights procedures at least don’t recognize them out of principle.
It is also troublesome that the UN might actually be participating in the problem (something I would like more evidence of first).
Though if it turned out to be true, some people need to be replaced. Honestly, it is instances like this that I wish oversight from someone morally decent would actually step in to help the people who need it. In an instance such as this being more interdependent doesn’t bother me so long as the end result can be for the betterment of others.
